Welcome to the American Coach Family!
We just ended our Chapter’s annual “If it’s January, it must be Quartzsite” rally. With 23 coaches, and three additional “other brand” rigs in attendance, we circled ‘round the campfire for a great get-together.
It’s hard to say what we enjoyed the most: Cowboy coffee in the mornings, campfires in the evenings, one evening of “Anything goes Chili’s Cookin’”, and another evening of steaks hot off the grill.
During the days, some visited the annual RV Show and the Big Tent; while others visited some of Quartzsite’s local points of interest, including the Bookman. All in all, the attendees really enjoyed the relaxed and laid back camaraderie.
At this rally, we also welcomed new members to our Southwest Chapter: Sal & Leslie Speziale, Charlie & Laurie Savage, and Don Hermance. Don is one of the “Three Amigos”…we are awaiting membership returns from the other two of Don’s amigos!
We also devoted one morning (while basking in the sun) to a very productive planning session for the National Rally in Las Vegas this coming October.
All of the meeting attendees contributed to the discussions, and everyone made valuable suggestions and contributions. With all of this support, I have no doubt that the Las Vegas event will really be a great success.
For our next Chapter get-together, Harlan & Annie Olson are leading a rolling rally to the Gillette National Rally this coming May. Starting on May 21st at Flagstaff, Arizona, the rally participants will travel up the beautiful Navajo Trail and make time to visit three National Parks: Zion, Cedar Breaks and Bryce. Anyone is welcome to join this rolling rally at any point along the route. Look for more information in the rally section of this magazine, as well as on the website.
Chapter members Dave (our Membership Chair) and Pat (our Treasurer) Brown, both of whom are recovering from a very serious automobile accident, have been forced to discontinue their beloved motorhoming activities along with their Chapter offices. We are very sorry that we won’t be seeing them at our Chapter functions. In the meantime, Jean Graham has agreed to take on the Treasurer duties, and Steve & Becky Hight have agreed to take on our Membership duties. We sure appreciate these folks stepping up to the plate for the Chapter.
On a personal note, I want to thank all of those who sent best wishes to Joseph and me. December ended up delivering a 1-2 punch for us: Joseph had to take me to Emergency a couple of times and I ended up flat on my back for two weeks. At the same time, our mobile home renter had a meltdown, and ended up burning down the entire home.
But, all looked much better in January, including the addition of a new member to our family. Meet Ms. Mocha Latte, a miniature ball of fur who has already worked her way into our hearts.

From all of the Southwest Chapter members, we send greetings and our best wishes to each of you; we sincerely hope your days bring you peace and happiness.
